My birthday falls in that tricky time between Christmas and New Year, so I’m always at a bit of a loss of what we can do. I’m always pretty tired from the Christmas build up and friends are often saving their money and livers for New Years Eve. So this year Jack and I booked into Leman Locke, an aparthotel in Aldgate, London that I’ve been wanting to stay in for ages!
The bed was super comfy, the bath was heavenly (I made full use of it as we don’t have one at home!) and the sofa was the perfect place to watch telly. And that retro phone was absolutely awesome. This is an antiquing find, don’t you think? I love a good city view and this one did not disappoint, there’s something so cosy and peaceful about being high off the ground.
Having a fully functioning kitchen was a complete bonus so we could make a quick breakfast in the mornings or a snack in the afternoon. It makes for the perfect mix of self-catering and hotel accommodation. The staff were super friendly and there’s a lovely cafe downstairs with some gorgeous coffee and pastries. It’s in a great location too, 2 minutes Aldgate East tube station and a 10 minute bus ride from Shoreditch.
I felt right at home here as the design of the rooms are right up my street, pastel blues and pinks with industrial touches such as the cement wall and plywood wardrobes. I’m really lusting after that sofa and lamp! I’d love to check out Whitworth Locke in Manchester and Eden Locke in Edinburgh next!
