Recently I revisited Portishead open air pool – the perfect spot on a hot, sunny day!

It’s located next to the estuary in Portishead, and you have to drive past the lakes where people are driving their miniature remote controlled boats and having picnics. So you already feel like you’re on holiday as soon as you drive into the park. It also means that when you’re sitting on the large steps by the pool you can see the sea – on a hot day you can easily imagine that you’re abroad!

It was built in 1962 and you can really see the 60s design in the architecture. It was threatened to close in 2008 but local supporters fought to keep it open – even bringing in Ty Pennington from Extreme Makeovers to completely refurbish it!! (lol love that programme)

It’s the perfect place to spend the whole day, with the coloured walls making it an intense sun trap, sometimes getting bit tooo hot for mine and my boyfriend’s pale skin as there isn’t any shade!

Sitting in such a colourful environment all day puts a big smile on my face, I’d definitely recommend going if you’re in the area!

Tip: Try and go before/after the schools break up though as it does get suuuuper busy on a sunny day.
