Monthly Favourites – September

I’ve been quite busy this past month, although I’m working so I’m not technically ‘back to school’ or anything but I still feel like September is like a fresh start. Everyone is back at their desks and knuckling down for the next season. I always look forward to the next season’s weather and Christmas is my favourite time of year so I’m LOVING seeing Christmas stuff creeping into the shops! Here are a few of the things I’ve been enjoying over the past month.

TV

Escape to the Chateau

Autumn always has the best tv and I’ve been loving Liar on ITV and the new series of Doctor Foster, but I’ve also been enjoying Escape to the Chateau. It’s a documentary that follows an English couple who buy an enormous French Chateau that’s in a terrible state. Dick is an engineer (and used to present scrap heap challenge!!) and Angel is an interior designer with a super quirky style. The work they have to do is never ending and it’s amazing watching them bring the Chateau back to life for weddings and events (and to live in themselves). They are both such positive personalities and I honestly don’t know how they deal with that amount of stress! Series 1 and 2 is on All4 and series 3 is airing now.

Clothes

Pyjamas at ASOS

I have never seen the point in buying nice PJs because all you do is sleep in them. But ASOS have been doing such nice ones recently I decided to get some. And now I see the point! Now as soon as I get home from work I get my PJs on and it’s like I’m instantly relaxed. It’s so much nicer to put something nice on to go to bed rather than an old t-shirt and jogging bottoms I’ve had since I was 16. I think I’m a bit late to the party on this one, but now I’m definitely going to be buying more!

Make up

Wunderbrow

I have naturally very thin and pale eyebrows. It’s always a struggle because eyebrow pencils tend to make mine quite orange (prompting everyone to ask me if I’m naturally ginger – I’m not!) then I had a phase with an eyebrow pen that made them quite green. Even worse! Then I found that I could dye them pretty easily with an Eyelure brow dye which made them less orange and then fill them in with a Sleek eyebrow kit. This worked great until I realised that by the end of the day they had pretty much wiped off. And seeing as I don’t have much underneath the makeup this wasn’t a good look. I finally bit the bullet and bought the Wunderbrow eyebrow gel and I love it! My eyebrows stay on all day and even all night if I don’t take them off. It’s quite unforgiving so it does mean I have to be more careful about doing them in the morning, but overall I’m pretty happy. You need a very small brush to apply it with and a spooly to comb out the excess – but it’s not too tricky.

Music

Stefflon Don – Hurtin Me

I saw Stefflon Don at Love Saves the Day Festival back in May and she was amazing live. Now she’s brought out Hurtin Me with French Montana and I loooove it, can’t wait for the new album.

Clothes

Pink Corduroy Jacket – Urban Outfitters

I saw this jacket a couple of months ago in Urban Outfitters and fell in love with it, you know when you can’t stop thinking about buying something even when you get home? Then you know you have to have it. But it was £66 and I wanted to wait until the weather was a bit cooler so I could actually wear it. Then somehow I got it in the sale for £35, which NEVER happens to me! I’m a bit rubbish at sale shopping and can never find what I want so this was a rare find. I’ve been wearing it non stop since!

Website

Future Me

Future me is a website I first used when I was about 17. It’s a bit of a strange concept but great for sentimental people like me! You write an email to yourself to be delivered on a date you choose. I recently remembered about it and quickly wrote myself an email for 3 years time. I like picking my birthday as it’s always a nice surprise when the email arrives. I’m someone that would love to keep a diary (and I did used to) but I just never remember to do it, so I love things like this. I usually write what I’m currently up to, and what I think I’ll be doing by the time I read the email. I scheduled the last one to arrive on my 30th birthday (how am I nearly 30?!). It’s a nice chance to reflect and I love seeing how much things change in just a few years. Perhaps an odd concept to some – but I love it!
