I actually had lots of posts I wanted to do this Christmas, but as usual things got very busy and I ended up with less time than I thought! So instead I thought I’d do a little round up of December. I always like getting excited about Christmas in November because I always feel that December flashes by without me even noticing (such a contrast to when I was a kid and it felt like an eternity!).
At the beginning of the month Jack and I went to London for the weekend to do some Christmas shopping. We went on the same weekend the year before so we knew there were some good craft markets on. We were especially looking forward to the Renegade Craft fair at the Old Truman Brewery and the Independent Ceramics Market in Hackney. We also went to Covent Garden as it was super festive, and had a meal with some uni friends we hadn’t seen for ages in the evening.
On the Sunday we woke up to so much snow! So instead of going back into town we spent the morning wandering around near my sister’s flat in the snow, trying to dodge snowballs Jack was throwing at me and having hot chocolates from a tiny cafe to warm us up. It was super festive! Eventually we braved the roads and drove back to London, stopping off at Westfield shopping centre to finish off our Christmas shopping.
This year was the first year I’d ever bought my own real tree. I always had them growing up but since moving out I just bought a fake one that I’ve been using for the last few years. So it was really nice to have that proper tree smell, and to go and choose one (trying to fit it in my small car was a bit tricky though!).
I’m super happy with our tree this year. We went for a white and red theme, and have ended up with a lot of little characters – which wasn’t intentional but I love them!
I absolutely love wrapping up presents and have found some lovely wrapping paper this year. I love buying presents for Jack so have gone a bit overboard, we’re opening them on Christmas Eve because we’re not spending Christmas Day together and I cannot wait for Christmas to get into full swing!
