As I mentioned in my previous post, I loveeee Christmas and love the lead up to it just as much as the day itself, so an advent calendar is always a must.
Recently, advent calendars seem to have taken on epic proportions, and although I (obviously) wouldn’t say no if I was given one, I absolutely cannot justify spending up to £300 before Christmas has even begun! However I did get a bit enthusiastic with alternative calendars this year. So here’s my choice of budget friendly ones.
Meri Meri Calendar – £10
I picked this one up from TK Maxx the other weekend, I can’t find it online but Meri Meri do some other lovely ones (and lovely everything – such a great brand). I love that it’s 3D and the little glittery star on the top with Father Christmas is so cute.
I found this on ASOS and liked how simple it is. I’m not keen on the font they’ve used (graphic designer hang ups!) and did consider painting over it, but I think I can live with it!
Hobbycraft sell plain wooden advent calendars that you can paint yourself. This was a little project I did last year. It took me ages to decide what colours I was going to use, and how I was going to write the numbers etc. I’m not 100% happy with the result, but I think that’s true of anything I make! I love that you can put your own little chocolates (or anything else) inside each door. Although last year I discovered that Jack had got a sweet tooth one night and eaten them all! So I think I’m going to have to keep an eye on it this year…
